The Bike Rite Program promotes physical health through bicycling while also supporting academic achievement. Students in grades six through twelve are accepted into this program upon the receipt of a referral from their school. These students are provided a positive and safe environment with strong systems of support.

Participants receive homework instruction, tutoring, and mentoring in addition to participating in workshops on drugs and violence prevention, general health education, and life development skills. In order to ensure that the academic and social needs of students are being met, our staff monitors the progress of each student, and meets regularly with parents, teachers, and counselors

Bike Rite activities take place year round.

Bikes and helmets are provided by the program and biking excursions have included rides to variouslocal sites of interest such as Stone Mountain Park, colleges at the Atlanta University Center, Centennial Park, etc.

Community service is a key element of the program. Participants are taught to give back to their community. Community service activities include the Annual Fix Your Bike Day in Edgewood and neighborhood clean-up projects. Last school year, 100% of the students in Bike Rite received a passing conduct grade and had no disciplinary actions.
