Mission Statement - To partner with families and the Edgewood Community to ensure that every child in the community has what he or she needs to succeed in school.

Whitefoord Community Program (WCP) was established in 1995 by the late Dr. George Brumley and his former student, Dr. Veda Johnson, to address the health and educational needs of children and families served by the Whitefoord Elementary School Health Clinic in Atlanta, Georgia. It is a community-driven organization that strives to empower residents of the Edgewood Neighborhood to take charge of themselves, their children and their community.

The current programs include:

School Based Health Centers: Full service pediatric clinics are conveniently located within the schools. Mental health and dental services are available to adults living in the community.

Child Development Program (CDP): The CDP provides a year-round developmentally appropriate and nurturing learning environment for children 0-5 years of age. The program currently serves 125 children and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Beyond School Hours: Beyond school hours takes a holistic approach in support of the educational efforts of children and families in the community. Beyond School Hours houses: After school Enrichment, Intel Computer Clubhouse, Bike Rite Program, and Summer Reading Program.

WCP is well-suited for the work we do: A documented record of success in making children ready to learn when they enter school. The place-based infrastructure of comprehensive, integrated programs and services: four school-based health centers located at Whitefoord Elementary School, Fred A. Toomer Elementary School, Sammye E. Coan Middle School,  and Crim Open Campus, a nationally accredited Child Development program, Beyond School Hours and Summer Programs for elementary and middle school students.
