The Future of Whitefoord Elementary School

Founded 17 years ago by the late Dr. George W. Brumley and his family along with his former student Dr. Veda Johnson, the Whitefoord Community Program (WCP) has been providing services to the children and families attending Whitefoord Elementary School (WES) to ensure that every child has what he or she needs to be successful in school. Several of our programs are located in the Whitefoord Elementary School facility. They include our School Based Health Center which provides comprehensive pediatric medical, dental and mental health services to the students; as well as our After School tutorial and enrichment program and summer reading camp.

Through a Memo of Understanding with Atlanta Public Schools our 2 Georgia Pre-K classes and one class of three-year-olds, part of our NAEYC accredited Child Development Program, are all housed at Whitefoord Elementary School. From our inception we have collected factual data to support our programs' measurable outcomes and impact on academic success.

Our Board of Directors would like to voice our sincere hope that Whitefoord Elementary School will not be closed as the Atlanta School Board considers various options for redistricting and school closures. We do not want to see the doors of WES closed!

Sincerely,

 WCP Board of Directors
