Our School-based Community Health Centers are located inside of Whitefoord Elementary and Sammyie E. Coan Middle Schools and were established in 1994 to keep children in the community healthy by providing easily accessible health care. The clinics now provide services to any child age 0-19. Future plans will include services to Adult patients in the community.
Treating all levels of both acute and chronic illnesses, our school clinics are considered Primary Care Providers by health insurance companies. Our highly trained and well qualified doctors and medical staff are employees of Emory University and includes pediatricians, a dentist, mid-level providers, nurses, a health educator and social workers.
The following services are provided by the medical team at both school based clinics:
- Infant Check-ups
- Physical exams and sports physicals
- Monitoring and treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, obesity
- Vaccines and immunizations
- Confidential lab tests,
- Vision and hearing screenings
- Mental health support and counseling
- Nutritional counseling and health education
- Assistance with enrollment in low cost health insurance,
- Prescriptions
- Dental screening and treatment (includes adult patients)
Fee for services are based on a sliding scale as determined by annual household income. Patients are not denied services based on their inability to pay.
